What’s your favourite film genre?
Name as many romantic comedies as you can?
Would you like to be a film star? Why/why not?
What do film stars do all day? Can you imagine a typical day in a film star’s life?

Opening titles (Anna in Hollywood)

What six things do you see the film star doing during the opening titles?

Scene 1 (William walking through Notting Hill)

Watch the first part of the film. It’s set in a part of London – Which part?
William mentions 5 places in his neighbourhood – make a note of them.

Scene 2 (William enters his house)

Put these quotes from the film in the correct order. Then watch the scene and check.

  6. Anna leaves the shop.
  7. William discusses money with his employee.
  8. Anna enters the shop.
  9. The shop-lifter asks Anna for her autograph.
  10. William gives Anna advice about choosing a book.
  11. William’s assistant comes back with the coffee.

Scene 5 (In William's house)

  • W: Yeah, well, my pleasure. So.. It was nice to meet you. __________ but nice.
